2008 Format
- Eligibility: Member leagues are guaranteed one slot in the Ohio playoffs; member leagues with 8 or more teams are guaranteed two slots in the Ohio playoffs. Host league will designate a host team beyond its guaranteed playoff slots for the final field.
- Individual member leagues will be free to determine how they choose their representative(s) to the state championship playoffs. All-Star teams, however, are not permitted. (Buckeye Baseball 18+ Executive Committee recommends that leagues with 1 slot to send their playoff championship team, that leagues with 2 slots to send their playoff championship team and their regular-season championship team if the same team wins both, the second team should be the playoff runner-up.)
- Teams are allowed to add as many as 4 players to their regular-season roster. Added players must be in good standing in the representative teams league; there is no restriction of positions.
- 3-game pool play guaranteed
- Top 12 teams advance to single elimination playoffs, or
- All teams with 2 victories qualify for single elimination playoffs.
- All teams play one game Thursday, with host community teams participating in the early (3 p.m. and 6 p.m.) games. Teams traveling the farthest will play in the later games.
- All teams play DH on Friday to complete pool play. Host teams may request late starts on Friday; all efforts will be made to have the DHs played back-to-back with no travel.
- Playoffs: First round Saturday morning, Quarterfinals Saturday afternoon, Semifinals Sunday morning, Championship Sunday afternoon. (Teams will be seeded in the playoffs based on record, head-to-head and runs allowed tiebreakers. With 12 teams, teams 1-2-3-4 would receive a bye, with the following first round matchups: 5-12, 6-11, 7-10 & 8-9; the winners would advance to play 1-2-3-4. Once brackets are set, no re-seeding.
- The Tournament Committee reserves the right to adjust the format where conditions beyond the control of the Committee so dictate.
